League of Legends Champions Confirmed in Project L So Far

Riot Games’ upcoming fighter game based on League of Legends is called Project L and this game made its debut as a demo at Evolution Championship (Evo) Series 2023. Ahead of this, a lot of players were given a demo of the game at Riot Game’s headquarters and the reviews have been absolutely raving. Evo 2023 attendees have the opportunity to get their hands on Project L between 4th to 6th August.  At Evo 2023, a new brand new character was also revealed.

While earlier this heart-pumping brawler was rumored to be a 1v1, now the creators have shared that the game will feature different combat modes like 1v1, 2v2, and even 2v1 matches.

The fighting game is based on the universe of League of Legends and its colorful characters. Here are all the confirmed, playable League of Legends champions in Project L currently.

League of Legends Champions in Project L

Project L is the placeholder name for Riot Games' fighter game as with every other Riot title. Project L was first announced in 2019 and is being developed by former members of Radiant Entertainment, the studio behind the Rising Thunder. The game features League of Legends champions and while some of them have been confirmed, some are still a work-in-progress.

Notably, Riot Games revealed the next champion coming to free-to-play fighting game Project L at Evo 2023. The latest champion to be revealed was Yasuo, the Unforgiven, a champion who has a love-hate relationship with the League community.

On 4th August, Riot Games tweeted, "One blade, one purpose. Yet this steel doesn’t get any lighter. Play Yasuo, the Unforgiven, along with Darius, Ekko, and Ahri at #Evo2023."

That being said, here are all the confirmed League of Legends champions featured in Project L. We know of six fighters so far:

  • Ahri

  • Darius

  • Ekko

  • Illaoi

  • Jinx

  • Yasuo

This list of champions will be updated as and when Riot Games releases them.

Executive producer of the game, Tom Cannon, speaking about the project's journey, emphasized the team's commitment to innovation, stating, "From the very inception of this endeavor, we knew that to create a remarkable fighting game, we had to introduce fresh and original elements to the genre."

Interestingly, Riot Games was initially developing Project L to be a 1v1 game but then made the pivot to a tag team, assist-based fighter. The game can be played in 1v1, 1v2, or 2v2 formats.

There are three tag systems in Project L:

Assist Actions: Each champion has two that they can perform from off-screen.

Handshake Tag: This lets you immediately swap between Point and Assist champions as long as they’re both on screen.

Dynamic Save: This is Project L’s combo-breaker. At the start of each match, players will have access to the Dynamic Save ability that let’s one call upon their Assist champion to save the Point champion. Notably, this can be countered if it's used predictably.
