Team Spirit Reacts to True Sight 2021 Documentary

A few days ago, Valve finally released its annual documentary of The International, True Sight 2021. The documentary covered the Grand Finals match of The International 2021 (TI10) between PSG.LGD and Team Spirit, with the latter securing the Aegis of Champions after a thrilling best of five. While the documentary did cover the competitive aspect of Dota 2, it also covered the mentality of the teams during a grand finals match.

Following the release, some of the players on Team Spirit reacted to their journey in Valve’s True Sight documentary.

Yatoro prefers more player audio than commentators on True Sight 2021

In a recent interview with Escoresnews.com, some of the players of Team Spirit gave their own opinions on Valve’s recent documentary, before traveling to the team’s bootcamp in Malaysia, as revealed by offlaner Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov.

Yatoro

Team Spirit’s carry, Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk gave his opinion on the Valve documentary, saying that it was cool. However, he felt that the producers/authors of the documentary used too much of the commentary’s audio as he wanted to listen to more about the player/ team side of things.

“True Sight was cool, but I wish they used more player talks from the games. In my opinion, they had too much talking from the commentators.” said Yatoro.

TORONTOTOKYO & Collapse

Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek & Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov were of the same opinion as Yatoro, saying that while the Valve documentary was well-produced, it could have been better when discussing the documentary with each other.

Collapse: “[laughs] Yeah, it was decent. [the documentary]

TORONTOTOKYO: “ I watched the documentary with my girlfriend. It was alright, but I felt that they [Valve] could do a bit better, don’t you think?”

Both of the players then criticized the documentary, saying that much of the behind the scenes of the players decisions in certain situations were ignored by the producers of the documentary. Both TORONTOTOKYO & Collapse also noted that the pacing of the documentary was a bit rushed.

TORONTOTOKYO: "I felt that there weren't enough players [discussion]. There was a ton of interesting info said by us during the matches. I wanted people to hear that. For example, how Yatoro was dodging smokes, how we were making decisions. There were a lot of cool moments on the last map, for example, but Valve didn't use them."

Collapse: "On the last map they showed the fight on bot lane, then jumped to us pushing high ground, and then we destroyed the throne. I think between all those moments, there was like a 5-7 minutes gap. It felt a bit too rushed"

TORONTOTOKYO: "Well, overall I liked it".

After giving his insight on the documentary with Collapse, TORONTOTOKYO stated that he felt bad for Zhao "XinQ" Zixing in the documentary as the support was scolded by coach Zhang "xiao8" Ning after the first game of the Grand Finals for yawning.

“By the way, remember the moment with XinQ, when xiao8 told him to wash his face? I felt so bad for him.”

Team Spirit is currently bootcamping in Malaysia in preparation for the upcoming The International 2022 (TI11). The defending champion will be aiming to become the second team to win back-to-back TIs after OG.
