Biden Administration’s AI Chip Export Rules Face Backlash from Nvidia
The Biden administration announced new rules on Monday restricting exports of advanced AI chips to curb access for adversaries like China and Russia while preserving U.S. technological dominance. The regulations, which cap exports to most countries, including India and several Asian nations, have drawn criticism from tech leaders.
Nvidia called the rules "misguided," arguing they could harm global innovation and economic growth. Ned Finkle, Nvidia’s Vice President of Government Affairs, warned that the measures might weaken U.S. technological leadership by creating bureaucratic hurdles and driving customers toward Chinese competitors. Nvidia’s stock fell by 4% following the announcement.
While India and other nations, including Singapore and the Philippines, face fewer restrictions than China or Russia, limited access to advanced chips could hamper innovation in AI and gaming, potentially slowing growth in these emerging markets.

However, its launch stumbled due to an unusual sales model: players had to call a phone number to purchase the full game.
To make matters worse, a font issue rendered the company’s name nearly unreadable, leaving many unaware of the full version's existence. As a result, Space Cadet Pinball remained a nostalgic demo rather than achieving the success it might have deserved.
