Dragon Age almost had no dragons! Initially, the game was set in a post-dragon world where these mythical creatures were extinct, and the title “Chronicles” was considered. However, when a random name generator produced “Dragon Age,” the team adopted it, prompting a major shift.

Lead writer David Gaider was tasked with reshaping the story, adding returning dragons, turning the Archdemon into a dragon, and even creating the "Dragon Age" calendar system.
