All Teams Competing in DreamLeague Season 23 Finalized

The closed qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 23 have concluded, and the lineup of competing teams has been finalized. Four teams secured direct invites based on their standings in the ESL Pro Tour (EPT), while eight teams successfully navigated through the qualifiers to earn their spots in the event. There were two slots available for Western Europe (WEU) while the remaining six regions each had one. In terms of outcomes, it was a rather expected qualifier, except in Eastern Europe, where Spirit was eliminated early and it was Natus Vincere that made it to its first tier one event in years. Here are the final teams who will compete in DreamLeague Season 23.

All 12 teams set to compete in DreamLeague Season 23

The following four teams received direct invites to DreamLeague Season 23 based on their strong results in prior ESL tournaments.

  1. BetBoom Team

  2. Xtreme Gaming

  3. Gaimin Gladiators

  4. Team Falcons

The following are the eight teams that successfully advanced through the qualifiers.

  1. Team Liquid (Western Europe)

  2. Tundra Esports (Western Europe)

  3. Natus Vincere (Eastern Europe)

  4. PSG Quest (MENA)

  5. Azure Ray (China)

  6. Aurora (Southeast Asia)

  7. Shopify Rebellion (North America)

  8. Heroic (South America)

Western Europe, one of the strongest regions in global competitive Dota 2, saw Team Liquid emerge as the top team, a rather predictable outcome given the previous months’ results. Tundra was the second team to advance to the main event, following Liquid, after putting on an outstanding showing in the lower bracket.

In Eastern Europe, reigning The International (TI) champions Spirit were eliminated following a 2-1 loss to 1win in the lower bracket. Natus Vincere defeated Virtus.pro 3-2 in the grand final of what turned out to be a very close qualifier.

In MENA (Middle-East & North Africa), Nigma Galaxy put up a great fight for the first time this season, but it was unable to advance as PSG Quest defeated it 3-2 to qualify from the region.

In Southeast Asia, Aurora was as thorough as it could be, using its top form from recent tournaments to defeat Talon 3-0 and advance.

In China, Azure Ray and Team Zero showed off some impressive drafting and skill, winning two games each after the former used a high intensity lineup to win the final game and the series 3-2.

In North America, it was the usual Shopify Rebellion vs nouns grand final, and nouns was unable to hold its own until the finish despite offering stiff competition, as Shopify prevailed 3-2 to go to the main event.

In South America, another grand final was contested over five games, with Heroic defeating Estar_Backs 3-2 to qualify for the event.

DreamLeague Season 23 will have 12 teams competing for the lion's share of the $1 million USD prize fund, as opposed to 16 in DreamLeague Season 22. The event takes place from 20th to 26th May 2024.
