How To Fix CS2 VAC Was Unable To Verify Game Session Error

With strict gaming policies aimed at eliminating hackers, any pop-ups from their end during a match can be a nightmare. Imagine you are playing CS2 after a busy day and have just joined the server. A pop-up hits, telling you “VAC was unable to verify your session”. And there goes your relaxation time down the drain. You will be kicked off the server, helplessly wondering what went wrong, before the match begins. This puts players in distress, making them believe that their account is going to be banned.

However, that is far from the truth. You won’t be able to play matches without verification and hence, this can ruin your gaming experience. But, there is a way to fix it, and in this article, we’ll tell you how.

Fixing CS2 VAC Verification Error

First off, if you've actually received a genuine VAC ban, then there is nothing to be done. You likely have used unauthorized tools on Counter Strike to gain an unfair advantage and are now suffering from the consequences of it.

But if you believe that this is a mistake, here are some ways in which you can resolve this error.

  1. Restarting The Game

This is probably the first solution that comes to mind. And sometimes it works. Exit from the game and close Steam before joining the game through Steam again. You can even restart your device and start the game again.

  1. Ban Check

It could be possible that you have actually been banned from the game. So, follow the given steps to determine your status:

  • Launch Steam Launcher and click on ‘Steam’ in the top left corner of the screen

  • Go to settings

  • Click on ‘Account Tab’

  • VAC status would be visible there

If it says ‘No VAC bans on account’, it means you’re clear.

  1. Revamp your Steam profile and name

This is an odd trick that has worked for some players, but enough to be able to make it to this list. All you have to do is change your profile picture and name on Steam. Join the game again and the problem will be solved.

  1. Troubleshoot by verifying game files

This is a standard troubleshooting procedure that can also help you determine any faulty errors that may be causing inconvenience. This might have something to do with local game files. To verify your files, follow these steps:

  • Go to Steam Library

  • Navigate CS:GO and right-click on it

  • Click on ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’

If any corrupt files are found, Steam will fix the problem on its own, thus resolving the error. Then, restart the game and check if the issue is resolved.

  1. Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Game

Well, this is a last resort for those who are still not able to resolve the issue. And this can be quite time-consuming. However, it may still help you resolve the error. Uninstall the game from Steam and reinstall it. Launch it when you are ready and it should work.

These are some of the ways in which you can resolve and fix the “VAC was unable to verify your session” error.
