OG's recent roster changes have been the topic of discussion among fans and analysts alike. In a recent interview with Cybersport.metaratings.ru, OG's player Dmitriy "DM" Dorokhin shed light on the team's decision to swap Mikhail "Misha" Agatov for Evgenii "Chu" Makarov. According to DM, Chu has a high rank in Europe, has the high-tier experience, and has previously won ESL One Malaysia with OG. Furthermore, he is a stable and reliable player that the team can trust. With his addition to the team, OG hopes to maintain stability and avoid any internal conflicts that may arise with a new player.
Additionally, DM compared his old organization, VP, with OG, mentioning the ‘OG Mentality’ and how team members treat each other with respect. He said that he had multiple offers from organizations in different regions, but ultimately decided to go with OG. Additionally, DM spoke about Team Spirit’s reshuffle, where he mentions that the team had a choice between keeping Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek or Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk.
DM on OG Mentality, Misha and Chu Swap, Comparing VP with OG
DM also spoke about OG's team mentality and how it differs from other organizations, such as Virtus.pro. He noted that OG places a strong emphasis on responsible communication, correct discussions, and treating each other with respect. “Both organizations are good, there are no major differences. Obviously the players are different, but the credit goes to the ‘OG Mentality’. In this team, the coach makes sure that we treat each other as human beings. This is why we have good communication and the right kind of communication,” DM said.
Misha plays a crucial role in maintaining this mentality, serving as the team's "big teacher" who helps them mentally and works with them on in-game drafting. In contrast, DM noted that Virtus.pro lacked someone with such responsibilities, and some of the team's members communicated inappropriately with their teammates. “At Virus.pro, we dint have a person with that kind of responsibility, and the guys (teammates at Virtus.pro) sometimes communicated inappropriately with teammates,” he added.
Regarding his decision to join OG, DM noted that he had offers from teams in Europe, America, and CIS. However, he chose OG because it was an optimal choice that allowed him to maintain his role. He likes the organization and the team's lineup and feels that it was the best decision for him. “I had offers from Europe, America and CIS, however, I preferred OG as I could play for them without changing my role. I like the organization and the players. If I joined other teams, I could play carry,” the offlaner added.
He also gave his own brief description of each player on the roster, having only positive things to say about every player. Artem "Yuragi" Golubiev, according to DM, is very smart and reasonable. Chu, on the other hand, likes to joke around and keeps everyone's spirits high. Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov is a highly talented player, while Tommy "Taiga" Le is a mega brain, innovator, and progress engine. Finally, DM referred to Misha as the team's older brother or teacher.
DM Says Team Spirit Chose Yatoro over TORONTOTOKYO
The offlane player also spoke about the reshuffle that happened at Team Spirit. According to him, the team had to make a choice between keeping TORONTOTOKYO or Yatoro. He believed that Yatoro was a very valuable asset in Eastern Europe (EEU) and that losing him would be a massive downgrade for the team. While TORONTOTOKYO is a good player, DM felt that it was easier to find a midlaner in the CIS region than a high-level carry like Yatoro.
