Burn x Flash Crowned as MPL Cambodia Spring Split 2023 Champion

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Cambodia (MPL KH) Spring Split 2023 concluded with Burn X Flash winning its back-to-back championship title. The tournament saw the iconic Burmese squad dominating against CFU Gaming in a best-of-seven (BO7) thriller. Burn X Flash shall head home with the lion’s share of the $40,000 USD prize pool alongside earning the privilege of representing Cambodia in the upcoming Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023. This shall be the second international MLBB esports event that the squad shall be competing in, after its run in the M4 World Championship.

Burn X Flash to represent Cambodia in the MSC 2023

Burn X Flash successfully defended its MPL Cambodia throne, marking its second championship title. The team was also the winner of the MPL KH Autumn Split 2022 which featured two Filipino imports - Gold Laner Jhonwin "Hesa" Vergar and Coach John "Zico" Dizon. However, shortly after its upsetting run in the M4 World Championship, the two imports decided to leave the team.

On top of becoming the champion, the team’s recently added Filipino import Mariusz Villamero "DONUT" Tan was declared as the Grand Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP).

DONUT was a former amateur standout under the MPL Philippines (PH) team Nexplay EVOS. The pro player did not see much success under the White Tigers, but he was able to showcase his talent leading to him being recruited by the Cambodian powerhouse team.

Former Cambodian champions See You Soon and PRO Esports settled for 3rd and 4th finishes, respectively. Burn X Flash officially secured its ticket to the upcoming MSC 2023. The much-awaited mid-year international tournament will take place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for the first time. This year, the MSC 2023 will feature three new regions - North America, Turkey, and MENA (Middle East and North Africa)

Despite being successful in the local league in Cambodia, Burn X Flash is yet to find success in international events. It shall be interesting to see if the squad will be able to keep its momentum going and claim a championship title in the upcoming MSC 2023.
