Is Escape From Tarkov Down (2023)?

Battlestate Games’ Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG (Role-playing Game)/Simulator with MMO (massively multiplayer online game) features and story-driven gameplay. The game allows players to go on multiple quests with varying levels of difficulty to level up and gain rewards and reputation from traders. There is a lot to discover in the game and it keeps the player base wanting to play more and grind more. When this is the case, it might be highly frustrating when the game is suddenly unavailable.

Even though the game is widely popular, it does not stop it from suffering server issues from time to time. However, sometimes the game might not open due to scheduled maintenance for new patches or technical updates from the publisher’s end. If you want to check if Escape From Tarkov is down, you need to keep close tabs on the social media accounts of Battlestate Games and Escape from Tarkov to understand what the issue is and learn when it will be back up.

Why Is Escape from Tarkov Temporarily Inaccessible?

On 3rd April, Battlestate Games issued a notice to Escape from Tarkov players, noting that it will be rolling out a new technical update for the game. It said, “Tomorrow, April 4, at 8 am BST/3 am EDT we are planning to install technical update 0.13.0.4. The installation will take approximately 3 hours but may be extended if required. The game will not be accessible during this period.

As a result, players will most likely not have access to the game between 8 am to 11 am BST (9 am to 12 noon CEST) and 3 am to 6 am EDT. Players should note that it might take more than this specified time in case the maintenance period is extended.

You can check out the patch notes for 0.13.0.4 here.

In the last week of March 2023, many players reported that they were unable to log into the servers due to an ‘Error on Post’ pop-up. The primary cause for this error is an overload on the Escape from Tarkov’s servers. This usually occurs when there is a new patch or a wipe since players flock in huge numbers at the same time to try the new content. Keep in mind that you might encounter this ‘Error on Post’ pop-up on 4th April, given that there is a new technical update coming your way.

One should also note that on 30th March the Tarkov launcher was hacked. While Battlestate Games assured that only the breaking news section of the launcher was attacked and that all the account data and servers were safe, the community was still skeptical about the incident.
