Dota 2 players around the world have been eagerly awaiting the release of Patch 7.33, and it has finally arrived. The New Frontiers patch is one of the largest in the history of Dota 2 patches, with a massive number of changes coming to the game. These changes include alterations to the map, new objectives, and significant mechanic changes. Heroes have also been buffed and nerfed to varying degrees. Among the many players who have shared their reactions to the new patch, some include Quinn "Quinn" Callahan, Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun, Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan, Clement "Puppey" Ivanov, popular streamers, and other pro players, all had something to say about the changes.
Quinn, SneyKing, Arteezy & more react to new patch changes
Quinn, the midlaner for Gaimin Gladiators and Lima Major 2023 champion had high praise for the patch and complimented Icefrog and his ability to make massive changes.
Quinn's words are a testament to the magnitude of the changes that Valve has introduced in Patch 7.33.
Sneyking, the support player for TI11 champion Tundra Esports also shared his thoughts on the new patch, saying that the new patch is looking good so far, referring to an image of him getting Rank 4 after the recalibration which came with the new patch.
Sneyking seems to be enjoying the new patch and its changes as it has provided him with a significant boost in rank and MMR.
Shopify Rebellion’s carry player, Arteezy, had a very short one-word comment describing the new patch.
This comment may be vague and short, but it may be indicative of the massive number of changes that the patch has bought to the game, making it difficult to process all of it.
TI5 champion and current core player for Nigma Galaxy, Sumail, had a very brief and direct response to the new patch, just stating that he likes it very much.
SumaiL’s comment clearly shows that he likes the new patch and is a fan of all the changes that it has brought to the game.
Wehsing "SingSing" Yuen, a popular streamer also reacted to the new patch by trying out all the changes that came with it. In one instance, SingSing views the new Medusa which has 0 Strength and its interaction with Axe’s ultimate ability, culling blade. “What if you have a level 12 Medusa and then you have a Axe who is also Level 12. You’re gonna have to buy like 20 braces,” SingSing says while laughing at the interactions between the two heroes. Since Medusa has 0 Strength, her base HP starts at 120 and does not increase if you do not increase her Strength attribute through items or level-ups.
In Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski’s recent livestream, he was joined by Puppey and the two of them reacted to the various changes in the new patch. In one short clip, the duo are seen reacting to the changes to Blink Dagger and how it will impact Tinker. “Taking damage from Roshan or enemy heroes now mutes the item for 3 seconds instead of setting it for 3 second cooldown. What does that mean? Does that mean you can’t refresh it? I think if you get hit, you cant press refresh it and Tinker cant refresh it if he gets hit. Holy sh*t thats a big nerf. What the f*ck, wow,” Gorgc said.
Puppey also agreed with most of Gorgc’s views on this change. “Yeah, he cant refresh and blink out. Thats a big nerf, thank god. And then they forget about changing Arcane blink,” Puppey added and joked about Valve potentially forgetting to add the changes to all the Blink Daggers.
Johan "N0tail" Sundstein , a former player for the old OG roster and winner of two TIs (The International), expressed his gratitude towards Valve, describing the patch as "lovely" and thanking the company with a thumbs up.
David "MoonMeander" Tan, the current coach for TSM, called the patch "nice" and "fun-looking" and praised Valve for their efforts in creating such a large-scale update.
Ondřej "Supream^" Štarha , who is currently playing for Into The Breach, found the patch to be "crazy," but in a good way, as it suits his preferences.
Mikhail "Misha" Agatov, the coach for OG, lauded the patch as a "10/10," and said that ‘Dota 3’ is real due to how much the game has changed.
Oliver "skiter" Lepko, a player for Tundra, described the patch as a "statement" from Valve and found the amount of new content overwhelming, noting that just looking at the new map made his head hurt.
Overall, the responses to the new patch have been mostly positive, with players acknowledging the magnitude of the changes and expressing their appreciation for the hard work that went into creating it. With so many changes to explore, Dota 2 players can expect to spend several hours re-learning the game mechanics and exploring the new features. As the pro players continue to adapt and develop new strategies, it will be interesting to see how the game evolves in the coming months.
