Ceb, 33, and Gorgc Discuss the Possibility of No Last Chance Qualifiers at TI12

As The International 2023 gradually approaches, the qualifiers for the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year are a hot topic among the community. In a recent livestream by Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski, the popular streamer was joined by Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and Neta "33" Shapira. The trio briefly discussed Western European (WEU) qualifiers for The International 2023 (TI12), agreeing that it would be extremely competitive. However, the three discussed and expressed their doubts about Last Chance qualifiers for the tournament.

Last Chance Qualifiers for TI12: Will They Happen?

Three big names in the Dota 2 scene, Ceb, 33, and Gorgc, recently got together on Gorgc's stream to discuss The International 2023 qualifiers. The conversation kicked off with Ceb sharing his thoughts on the Western Europe qualifiers. “TI qualifiers are going to be stacked. I can tell you already that the Western EU is going to be insane. It’s going to be last chance from last year, except it's going to be the qualifiers,” he said.

33 added to the conversation, questioning the presence of a Last Chance qualifier this TI12. “Is there even going to be a Last Chance (qualifiers)?” he said.

Ceb was a little surprised but unsure about 33’s comments. “I don't know. But I think last year they said they liked it,” said the Old G player.

However, Gorgc was the most surprised out of the three at the possibility of Last Chance qualifiers not being included in TI12. “Bro… if they don't add it. If it wasn't for last chance, Liquid, and Secret, the 2nd and 3rd place wouldn't even have been in TI, crazy,” said Gorgc.

Towards the end of the conversation, 33 shared some interesting information about how he heard something about Last Chance qualifiers. “I guess we will see. For some reason, I have in my mind that they are not going to do it. I remember hearing something about it, I don't really remember,” he said.

According to Valve, the Last Chance qualifier that was held in TI11 was "unique" to last year's DPC season. The company had stated, “These changes, which will be unique to the 2021-2022 season, will help to balance out the qualification in light of the potential DPC point discrepancy created by the absence of the first Major.”

So we may not even see the Last Chance Qualifier this season.

While Ceb and Gorgc were surprised by 33's comments, the three agreed that Last Chance qualifiers should be included in the upcoming TI. With Western Europe qualifiers expected to be extremely competitive, it may be even more incentivized to include Last Chance qualifiers to have the strongest teams competing at The International 2023.
