RAMZES666 Explains Why He Parted Ways With 9Pandas

For the 2024 competitive season, Russian carry player Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev will join the newly formed L1GA Team with former teammate Gleb "kiyotaka" Zyryanov. This development comes just weeks after he parted ways with 9Pandas, a team he played with for most of the last Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season. In an interview, during the ongoing BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024: EEU (Eastern Europe) Closed Qualifier, RAMZES666 explained his decision to split from 9Pandas. This decision was mutually reached upon due to "problems" in the team, one of which was patch 7.34, where the change in drafting affected their performance.

RAMZES666 attributes 9Pandas' performance decline to the impact of patch 7.34

RAMZES666 stated during the interview that he knew he had to explore new options for the season of 2024 with his contract set to expire at the end of 2023. “After Kuala Lumpur, I roughly already knew I wouldn't be in 9Pandas. I had a contract until the end of the year. I realized that I would leave and do something new or chill,” he said.

While RAMZES666 did not elaborate on the underlying reasons for the split, he noted that it was an agreement reached upon by both parties.

“The decision [to leave] was mutual, yeah. It's OK, it was a normal parting. There were some problems in the team. Let's not talk about it for now. I don't want to tell you anything right now.”

At the same time, he explained how challenging it became for 9Pandas in the 2023 DPC season by explaining its performance trajectory.

“The first half of the year was good, then we went down. By TI12 we were out of shape, so to speak. Until the end of Riyadh Masters we had our meta, and the patch suited us plus or minus, and we were picking and playing well - everything worked out.

Then the draft system changed and we didn't play very well from that point on. I'm not saying that the draft system changed anything drastically, but from that moment on we didn't do well somehow.”

After the Riyadh Masters 2023, patch 7.34 was released which reworked the draft order of Captains Mode. 9Pandas, who had previously secured top six finishes, had its performances gradually deteriorate, ending in a 9th-12th place finish at The International 12 (TI12) and an 11th-12th finish at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.

Moving forward, RAMZES666 and kiyotaka will be a part of L1GA Team, which now has a mix of veteran and fresh talents. The squad is currently contending for a slot in the main event at the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024: EEU Closed Qualifier.
