Pocket Pair surprised the gaming industry by launching Palworld, a survival-crafting RPG encompassing elements from various game genres. The game is essentially a derivative of titles like Valheim, Monster Hunter, and the well-known Pokemon franchise, which sparked significant controversy. Keeping that aside, the game has been a colossal success, selling over 8 million copies in just 6 days of its early access release. This is particularly impressive because the title is exclusive to PC and Xbox consoles and naturally, numerous PlayStation users are wondering if they can get their hands on Palworld anytime soon. Let’s jump right in and take a look.
Is Palworld Coming to PlayStation?
As mentioned above, Palworld can currently be enjoyed only on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC with Valve’s Steam Deck being an exception due to its platform. Considering the fact that the game was a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, it seems unlikely that it make its way to Sony’s PlayStation 4 and 5 anytime soon.
Gamers who regularly play Palworld know that the early-access title is currently plagued with numerous bugs, glitches, and performance issues some of which have been game-breaking, stopping players from progressing through Palworld. On 24th January, the studio also announced a roadmap for the game, and resolving these critical issues seems to be the focus point for the devs. Keeping all this in mind, we cannot expect to see a PlayStation version of Palworld at least until 2025.
While a 2024 PlayStation release seems implausible, not all hope is lost as Palworld could potentially make its way to both consoles in the future. This comes from a developer FAQ post in Pocket Pair’s official Discord server. The devs mentioned that although they don’t have plans to make a PlayStation port at the moment, they will consider it during development.
Additionally, PlayStation’s Shuhei Yoshida congratulated Palworld on X in a post regarding its successful sales numbers. Following this, a fan requested the ex-president of Sony Interactive Entertainment to release the PS5 version of Palworld as soon as possible. Yoshida simply responded with a ‘Yes’, while also tagging Jingwen Zhu, who works for PlayStation’s Partner Development program. This response sparked hope among PlayStation fans that they might soon have the possibility to experience Palworld on their consoles.
Considering the massive success that Palworld is experiencing, it would certainly be a lucrative decision to launch the game on PlayStation consoles which has amassed a player base comprising millions of gamers over the years.
