CS2 Premier Rating Distribution November 2023 and CS:GO Rank Comparison

Counter-Strike 2 has now been around for more than a month and players have been enjoying their time in the game, blaming Valve for all the bugs while simultaneously putting in the grind to improve their rating.

The game has undergone a few changes including the transition from rank to rating for gauging the skill of a player in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2). This has resulted in a shift from players preferring a newly introduced premier game mode over the usual competitive game mode.

Here is a detailed look at the CS2 premier rating distribution for November 2023 and how it compares to the CS:GO ranks.

CS2 Premier Rating Distribution and CS:GO Rank Comparision for November 2023

One month has passed since Counter-Strike 2 was officially released for everyone to enjoy and after a month of grind, the first proper CS2 premier rating distribution has been obtained courtesy of Leetify, which is a stats analysis website dedicated to the title.

The current CS2 premier rating distribution was obtained after an analysis of more than 1.9 million players, consisting of Leetify users along with their teammates and opponents.

CS2 Premier Rating Distribution November 2023

The most number of players fall under the 4000 rating bucket, 15.5% of 1.9 million users, which roughly amounts to 294,500 players, making it the ideal rating differentiator between beginners and those that are putting in the grind to improve themselves.

After this, the 9000 rating bucket comes in second consisting of 10.8% of the total users which amounts to 205,200 players, making it the second differentiator between decent players and those who are actually good at the game.

In an additional note, Leetify has mentioned that the 0.32% of players in the 20,000+ rating bucket are further divided as follows,

  • 20,000 to 24,999 CS2 Rating - 0.31% | 5890 Players

  • 25,000 to 29,999 CS2 Rating - 0.013% | 247 Players

  • 30,000 to 34,999 CS2 Rating - 0.00092% | 18 Players

From the above graph what we understand is that players are climbing quite easily to the 4000 rating mark after which they face a tough time progressing ahead, evidenced by a drop of 5% or a difference of about 95,000 players.

  • 4000 rating - 15.5% players | 294,500 players

  • 5000 rating - 10.5% players | 199,500 players

The graph keeps dipping till the 9000 rating mark where it suddenly rises to 10.8% which is rather strange. Immediately after that there is a steep dip which continues to decrease along with the progression.

  • 9000 rating - 10.8% players | 205,200 players

  • 10000 rating - 5.9% players | 112,100 players

This makes the 9000 rating bucket a clear differentiator between decent and more skilled players, acting as a tough barrier to cross for majority of those grinding the premier game mode.

CS2 Premier Rating vs CS:GO Ranks

The last CS:GO rank distribution calculated by Leetify consisted of data from 8th September, from over 440,000 players.

CSGO Rank Distribution: September 2023

The graph above seems to be top-heavy which basically means that more players seemed to hold higher ranks with Legendary Eagle Master (LEM) containing the bulk of those players, 10.9% which translates to about 47,960 players.

If the CS2 premier rating was to be compared with CS:GO rank distribution it would look something like the below mentioned table.

Comparison Between CS2 Rating and CSGO Rank

This is the first proper CS2 premier rating distribution that has been obtained and it gives us a good idea of how things currently stand. It will improve over time as the game stabilizes and as changes are made to the matchmaking algorithm currently deployed by Valve.
