Just when we thought CD Projekt was done with Cyberpunk 2077, the studio announced another major update for the game, which will be released on 5th December alongside the recently revealed Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition.
We still don’t know what the update will bring to the game, but according to early information, the CD Projekt Red will finally launch some anticipated gameplay elements and some other changes. Most people believe that we’ll just get some minor adjustments and quality-of-life changes, but nothing as huge as new quests or vehicles. However, the studio has surprised us a lot this year, so it’s better to wait and see.
Cyberpunk 2077 is Getting an Brand-New Free Update in December
It’s been two months since the release of Cyberpunk 2077’s massive 2.0 Update and Phantom Liberty update, which were supposed to be the last of the big updates to the game. However, CD Projekt has surprised the community with an announcement that Update 2.1 will be launched in December with brand-new gameplay elements.
On December 5th, the same day Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition hits the shelves, we’ll release a free Update 2.1 introducing new and hotly anticipated gameplay elements.

Although details about the contents of this upcoming patch are still sparse, CD Projekt will reveal more information about this free update during a live stream on 1 December 2023 at 4 PM CET. It’s been revealed that this update will launch alongside the game’s Ultimate Edition on 5 December
If you didn’t know already, the Ultimate Version of the game includes the base game and highly rated Phantom Liberty, the perfect way to experience the RPG. It’s not overstating the matter to say that Cyberpunk 2077’s redemption arc has proven to be one of the best turnarounds in a while. From its disastrous launch in 2020 to a highly rated RPG today, it’s a completely new game.
While we won’t get any other major updates or expansions, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the Cyberpunk series. We all know that CD Projekt is working on another new The Witcher title, with most of the staff focusing on it. We’re going to have a bit longer to learn about the sequel for Cyberpunk 2077, but Update 2.1 will surely keep us busy and entertained.
