One of the most popular battle royale titles, Fortnite has broken the all-time peak player record to set a new personal milestone on the very first day of its OG season, in fact just hours after the release.
On 5th November at 02:30 AM IST, Fortnite registered a concurrent peak of 6,172, 463 players, according to fortnite.gg, setting a new record ever since Epic Games made the live player count available through various third-party websites, starting April 2023.
Fortnite returned to Chapter 1 Season 5 following the conclusion of Chapter 4 Season 4, taking players back to the iconic island and striking them with overwhelming nostalgia, which could be the reason behind the massive spike.
Fortnite Breaks Record for Peak Concurrent Players Along With OG Season Release
The Fortnite OG Season is here and the community is excited to try out the old map locations, OG Pass, and even the OG Shop which is nothing but the regular daily shop that rotates on a daily basis.
To drive the nostalgia even further and give players a feeling of actually going back in time, Epic Games has made plenty of UI changes including the visual aesthetics of the lobby, remixed versions of the classic skins, and exclusive skins that will never return to the game again.
All this could be attributed to the new peak concurrent player record set by Fortnite with 6,172, 463 active players coming together and breaking the previous data of 2.8 million players which was set in August 2023 when Chapter 4 Season 4 was launched.
Back in the day when the original Chapter 1 was around, Fortnite had witnessed one of the biggest collaboration events that the game has witnessed to date when Drake and Ninja played a game together attracting a live concurrent viewership of more than 600,000 on Twitch.
The current Fortnite OG Season is scheduled to take place till 3rd December which means that this record could well be topped as there is still a lot of time left before this shorter season concludes.
