Just three days have passed since The International 12 (TI12) concluded, and a lot of rumors and speculation surrounding roster changes have already started to swirl around. It is business as usual when players change teams after TIs, but this time there has been an increased level of intensity. Max "qojqva" Bröcker, Team Liquid's livestreamer, recently discussed the potential changes coming to Shopify Rebellion during a Twitch livestream. Shopify's new team is the "wildest" according to qojqva, and the Dota 2 community will have a "laugh" when they learn about it.
Qojqva says Shopify Rebellion’s new roster is the “wildest”
Many livestreamers connected to the pro scene have been asked about roster changes, including qojqva who shared his perspective on potential changes happening to Shopify’s squad.
“The wildest team for me is Shopify. You will probably laugh when you see that roster not because it is bad but because you will be like - ah, of course. You will have that reaction. You are like - oh of course.”
There have been numerous discussions around Shopify's roster, but neither the players nor the organization have officially announced what changes are coming yet.
Last December, the organization entered Dota 2's competitive scene with the signing of the majority of the former Evil Geniuses roster (Arteezy, Abed, Cr1t-, Fly and coach BuLba) and Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek. In the first half of the year, the team performed reasonably well, achieving a fourth place finish at the Lima Major 2023 and securing the third spot at the DreamLeague Season 19.
Performances declined until rebounding dramatically in DreamLeague Season 21, where it finished second. At TI12, however, a tough group stage was followed by a disheartening loss to regional arch rivals TSM in the first round of the lower bracket. As a result, Shopify finished TI12 in 13th-16th place.
While SabeRLight- was a new addition to Shopify's roster, the other members have been playing together for quite some time. Tal "Fly" Aizik had left in 2021 to pursue other opportunities, only to return seven months later.
As a result, it will be intriguing to watch how much the North American squad changes and see what is this "surprising" component that qojqva mentions. With Shopify expected to play at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 in December, the complete lineup for the future season may take some time to be revealed.
