Gorgc Shares His Thoughts on Nigma Galaxy’s Withdrawal From Games of the Future 2024

Among the teams invited to Games of the Future 2024 in Russia, Nigma Galaxy was among the few from Western Europe (WEU)/Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Nevertheless, the tournament announced the team's withdrawal a week before kickoff, causing popular Dota 2 livestreamer Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski to speculate about the decision. Gorgc suggested that Nigma's decision to withdraw from the tournament might point towards a potential absence of a complete roster currently, prompting concerns about the team's future. Nigma has been replaced by the Southeast Asian Dota 2 team Geek Fam at the Games of the Future 2024.

Gorgc speculates on Nigma's future following Withdrawal from Games of the Future 2024

After discussing the development of Nigma being replaced at Games of the Future 2024, Gorgc said that withdrawal from the event is only adding to the uncertainty of Nigma's future since this is the only significant event the team was expected to play in the next few months.

“I don’t know why they pulled out. Maybe Miracle- felt like it was not worth going to the LAN. He was like - f**k this shit bro. Maybe they do not even have a roster anymore. Who knows what is happening with Nigma? If they are not in this tournament, they have no reason to play Dota for a while.”

Despite changing its roster several times, Nigma's performance in the 2024 competitive season continued to be poor and it was not able to qualify for any of the premier Dota 2 tournaments in the first half of the season.

Nigma got a direct invite to Games of the Future, the only event with a prize pool as huge as $1,000,000 USD. However, none of the other top WEU, SEA, or North American teams are a part of the event, most likely due to concerns about playing a LAN event in Russia following Russia's invasion of Ukraine two years ago.

Games of the Future announced Nigma's replacement by Geek Fam, but the underlying reason for that remains unclear since Nigma also did not announce its withdrawal from the event on social media.

Games of the Future is slated to take place from 19th to 25th Feb 2024 at Kazan in Russia. A total of 16 teams will be a part of the event, vying for the lion's share of the $1,000,000 USD prize pool.
