One of the most talked about teams in the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo was Sentinels. Sadly, the team was eliminated in its first match of the tournament following a '2-0' loss to Fnatic.
Surprisingly, this was not the only reason Sentinels faced criticism. The sixth member of its lineup, Hunter "SicK" Mims, had also called out the organization along with Riot Games for allegedly denying him entry into the venue.
"Riot and my own management (Sentinels) let me down big time. Even my own people did, people I thought I could trust. Will explain the situation clearly when I go live," said Sick in a recent public statement.
SicK upset with Riot and Sentinels after being allegedly denied entry into the venue for VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo
One of the most popular esports organizations from North America, Sentinels, features an active six-man Valorant lineup but apparently only five of them were allowed to enter the stadium where the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo is taking place.
The only match that Sentinels played in the tournament was against Fnatic on 24th February and as per public statements made by SicK, it seems that the 24-year-old was supposedly denied entry into the venue.
Talking about the issue on Twitter, SicK stated that he will not be able to watch his team play directly from the venue after apparently being denied entry.
"Most disrespectful thing that has ever happened to me," said SicK, while talking about the situation. This was followed by him making various sarcastic comments about how he is not present in the stadium to support his team despite being a part of its active roster.
He went on to call Sentinel's opening match "cursed" and the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo a "Mickey Mouse tournament", while continuing his banter about how he is not there with the crowd in the stadium.
SicK followed up by saying that Riot Games should be treating the players better and that he would be making a statement on his stream regarding him not being allowed to enter the venue.
It will be interesting to see what SicK finally says in the upcoming stream, but there has so far been no comment on the matter from either Riot Games or Sentinels.
