Two more Filipino talents have started their Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports journey overseas. Bren Esports’ former Gold Laner Jomari "Jowm" Pingol and Nexplay EVOS’ former coach Paolo "Pao" Villanueva will compete under Team Lunatix. The team previously competed in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) Season 10. Team Lunatix was able to qualify for the playoffs after finishing fourth place in Group D in the regular season. However, the squad suffered an upsetting first-round exit in the playoffs after being swept by RSG MY.
Team Lunatix is not on the list of teams competing in the upcoming MPL MY Season 11. However, the team may be aiming to qualify for the next season with its revamped roster.
Team Lunatix signs two Filipinos and one Indonesian talent
Through a Facebook post on 1st February 2023, Team Lunatix announced its acquisition of Jowm and Edwin “Fenryr.”
“We are glad and excited to welcome both Jowm and Edwin Fenryr to Team Lunatix. It’s brilliant to have them with us,” wrote the esports organization.
Jowm was one of Bren Esports’ prodigies and he helped the team in its resurgence. The squad performed poorly during the MPL Philippines (PH) Season 9, but it was able to redeem itself after an impressive 4th-place finish in Season 10. However, Jowm was then released from the roster, shortly after the tournament concluded.
Fenryr is a former member of ONIC Prodigy, the amateur team of ONIC Esports Indonesia. The pro player also joined Dewa United Esports back in 2021. Along the course of his journey in the MLBB esports scene, Fenryr is yet to claim his own championship title.
Team Lunatix signs former Nexplay Coach Pao
Shortly after announcing its two new players, Team Lunatix revealed that it also acquired the former Nexplay EVOS coach Pao to lead the squad in its MLBB esports journey in Malaysia.
Coach Pao filled the shoes of Nexplay's previous coach John "Zico" Dizon for the MPL PH Season 10. The team suffered continuous loss streaks and could only secure two wins in the regular season, losing its chance at joining the playoffs stage.
With two Filipinos and one Indonesian talent on its roster, it will be interesting to see if Team Lunatix will be able to find its momentum in upcoming tournaments.
