Vici Gaming’s New Roster For Next DPC Season Revealed as Fy Returns

Vici Gaming have been spotted registering its newest official roster for the upcoming season on the official team registration page. With the deadline for roster registrations edging closer, many organizations and players have begun to announce their finalized roster for the upcoming season.

Other organizations on the other hand, registered their players in advance as it looks to avoid the issues that occurred with Team SMG last August. While Vici Gaming had not announced its final roster for the 2022/2023 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season, its registration of its players suggested that it had concluded its business during the off-season.

Fy returns home as Vici Gaming registers new roster for 2023

With the deadline for the roster registration approaching, many within the Dota 2 community had been paying close attention to Valve’s official team registration page for roster updates. However, the community noticed that Vici Gaming had already completed its roster for the upcoming competitive season as it registered its players in advance.

According to Twitter user @Tr1H4rd3rDota2 who has consistently posted updates on the Chinese Dota scene during the off-season, it was revealed that the Vici Gaming’s roster for the 2022/2023 DPC season will consist of the following members:-

  1. Yang “Erika” Shaohan

  2. Gao "Setsu" Zhenxiong

  3. Li “niu” Kongbo (formerly known as b a b)

  4. Xu "fy" Linsen

  5. Zhou “Yang” Haiyang

While Vici Gaming had a terrible regional performance throughout the DPC season, its performance during the regional qualifiers saw a massive improvement as it qualified for the Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ). However, the team was one step short of qualifying for The International 2022 (TI11) as it achieved a fourth place finish at the LCQ.

Following the season, the organization announced that it had parted ways with mid laner Guo “Xm” Hongcheng, support Pan “Frisk” Yi (also known as Fade) & coach Wang "Liekkas" Yutian following their contract with the organization has already ended after TI11.

Setsu was last seen with Royal Never Give Up as its starting mid laner, having joined the organization since its inception in 2018. However, the Chinese mid laner has been inactive from the competitive scene since last year to deal with health issues.

Fy on the other hand, is no stranger to Vici Gaming as he joined the organization since its establishment in 2013. Fy also established himself as one of the best supports in the world in Vici Gaming, as he helped the team to reach its first ever TI Grand Finals at The International 2014 (TI4) however was unable to win the illustrious championship with the team.

Fy would continue to stay with the organization for three more years whilst joining two affiliated organizations in Vici.Gaming Reborn & Vici. VGJ.Thunder. However, he would leave the organization as a whole in late 2017 as he brings his talents to PSG.LGD. During his time with the Chinese juggernauts, fy managed to reach his second TI Grand Finals at The International 2018 (TI8) however this time OG were the ones who would deny him the illustrious championship win.

The Chinese support signed with Invictus Gaming in 2022, however he failed to qualify for TI11 as the team barely missed out on a spot at the LCQ. Following the end of the current competitive season, Invictus Gaming had announced that fy has been released from the roster which currently makes him a free agent.

While there had been no official announcement from the Chinese organization as of yet, its completed registration meant that Vici had officially concluded its roster business in the off-season, with an announcement soon to follow.
