Prime Gaming has finally launched in India and it is bundled with Amazon Prime for 1,499 INR ($18 USD). The subscription service offers players in-game goodies every month. One of the core components of Prime Gaming, which is a free subscription to a streamer of your choice on Twitch, is missing which makes the launch of the service a little disappointing for fans.
The lack of a Twitch subscription makes Prime Gaming less than appealing in India
Twitch subscriptions in India used to cost $5 USD for years before regional pricing was implemented. This brought down the cost of a monthly subscription to 110 INR ($1.5 USD). A lot of creators were shielded from regional pricing by Twitch but after the first three months since regional pricing was introduced, creators now receive less money based on the regional pricing of subscriptions.
With Twitch Prime, regional pricing is not implemented and streamers receive a fixed amount of money regardless of which region they receive a subscription from. But with Twitch subscriptions not being included in the Indian version of Prime Gaming, players in the country will continue to have to pay 110 INR for each subscription and streamers will continue to get paid less because of it, which also affects local creators.
Fans on social media are attributing the lack of free Twitch subs to the price of Prime Gaming to its low price of 1,499 INR ($18 USD). Many feel that Prime Gaming with free Twitch subs being offered as a separate package would be a great addition instead of removing one of the core aspects of the gaming service.
