Blacklist Sibol’s head coach Coach Kristoffer "BON CHAN" Ricaplaza shared how the team was in desperate need of assistance from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) community. According to the coach, the mobile phones used in the International Esports Federation’s (IESF) 14th World Esports (WE) Championship MLBB esports event were different from the ones they used to train. This unexpected switch of mobile devices may have affected the team’s performance in the tournament as the team had trained with a different device. Coach BON CHAN also addressed the critics who believe the team is just making excuses for its upsetting loss against the Indonesian representative team in the IESF WE Championship MLBB tournament.
Blacklist Sibol struggled to adjust in the tournament due to the mobile device used
The IESF WE Championship MLBB tournament saw the Blacklist Sibol squad lose against its rival team from Indonesia with a 0-2 defeat. However, the team was able to breathe a sigh of relief after a dominant win against Slovenia with a 2-0 victory.
Despite this, the team was still having problems behind the scenes, as revealed by Coach BON CHAN in one of his Facebook posts. The coach revealed that the team still needs a new phone for the whole team similar to the phones used in the tournament.
“Hoping someone would be willing to lend us a CP [Cellphone] that’s the same as the one we used now in the official tournament.. Someone from BLCK will be going here tom[morow] to deliver them.. Just PM me,” said coach BON CHAN.
He further explained in the comments section that the phones used in the tournament were different from the device they used in training. This made it hard for the Blacklist players to adjust.
The IESF WE Championship MLBB tournament is sponsored by Samsung and uses its devices. On the other hand, the MPL PH uses iPhones.
“The model used during our practice compared to the one used in the tournament is different, it feels different,” stated coach BON CHAN.
In the comments section, the coach also addressed the critics who claimed that the team was just making excuses for losing against Indonesia.
“Those who say that [were just making reasons] are just fanbase of *toooot* team. Haha!” said coach BON CHAN.
He also revealed a screenshot of his conversation with a Filipino player that plays in the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Indonesia, highlighting how the said player also experienced the same inconvenience when switching devices.
It will be interesting to see if Blacklist Sibol can bounce back in the tournament and climb back up to the grand finals.
