SVG Explains Why DM Could Prove to be Better Than ATF for OG

During the latest episode of OG’s podcast, Avery "SVG" Silverman talked with podcast co-host and OG CEO JMR Luna about the addition of Dmitry "DM" Dorokhin into the roster. During the off-season, OG decided to part ways with its prodigy off-laner Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf. Despite having a successful year with the team, ATF was let go by OG after The International 2022 (TI11) mainly due to playstyle differences as the team can no longer accommodate his playstyle.

While ATF left OG in favor of a new challenge at Nigma Galaxy as its new carry player, the organization decided to recruit former Virtus.pro offlaner DM as ATF’s replacement for the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season.

SVG describes DM as a cool and collected person

On the latest episode of OG's Money Business Podcast with OG CEO JMR Luna, former professional player turned caster Avery "SVG" Silverman recently talked about the addition of Dmitry "DM" Dorokhin to OG.

SVG started off by saying that he had previously played with him for a short period of time in late 2019 as DM was a trial player at Chaos Esports Club. While he stated that the trial was unsuccessful at the time, he praised the player for being open-minded and cool during their time together.

“I played with him [DM]. Brought him in after we scouted him [from Hellraisers in late 2019] for a stint. I think the reason for the failure was mostly because our team was just terrible and didn’t have a lot of functionality at the time. We put him on the roster and it was hopeless for him. I feel bad for that. But, he’s an amazingly chilled dude, super nice like a genuine person because he’s very quiet, has a very good work ethic and is very open to ideas.”

He then went on to talk about the finalized roster of OG by saying that DM is an upgrade compared to ATF mainly due to his flexibility and playstyle.

“It’ll be interesting to see, I think. He’s definitely more sacrificial than ATF was for sure. He has a larger utility of hero pool than ATF had, which I think was one of the main reasons for OG’s bad run at TI because I think that patch was weird and it majorly impacted ATF’s playstyle. So I think DM is a bit more flexible as an off-laner in terms of what OG wants in terms of strategies going forward, as he can play the required heroes needed as opposed to ATF.”

DM will make his debut with OG in the weeks to come in the first division of the Western Europe (WEU) DPC league. However, the player will face a lot of pressure as his scheduled first opponents in the regional league will be the TI11 champions, Tundra Esports.
