18-year-old Manuel "Manuel" Bachoore from the Netherlands secured a hard-fought 5-4 victory at the grand finals of the Gamers8 FIFAe World Cup 2023. The youngster had a rough start to the tournament where he won only three games in the group stage but he managed to qualify with 13 points from Group D and went on to win the world championship.
Manuel is one of the best young FIFA players of this era
The 18-year old has had a fantastic year so far with a win at not just the FIFAe World Cup 2023 but also second place at the FIFAe Nations Cup. He has two back-to-back wins at the last two Dreamhack eDivisie championships. With over $500,000 in winnings at the age of 18, he is undoubtedly one of the best players in the FIFA esports scene.
During the Knockout Stage, he dominated the competition with a 10-2 victory against Twisted Minds’ Ahmad "AboMakkah" Mujahid. His biggest challenge at the event was undoubtedly Romania’s Razvan Puiu who put on a fantastic show and almost defeated the world champion. The matchup went all the way to a 6-5 grueling victory for Manuel.
Grand Finalist Mark "Mark11" Zakhary was Manuel’s final challenge and we saw two of the most talented teenagers in FIFA esports go head-to-head in a 5-4 series. Manuel came out on top but Mark11 put on a fantastic show against the world champion.
Right before the FIFAe World Cup, Manuel also competed in the Nations Cup where he helped the Netherlands secure a respectable 2nd place. Manuel will take home a massive $300,000 USD out of the $1,000,000 prize pool from the World Cup.
The FIFAe World Cup 2023 was one of the last major FIFA 23 events as we head into an era where EA and FIFA (the soccer association/ football authority) will split up. FIFA will create its own games after partnering with a different publisher while EA will transition to a new series known as EA FC.
