How to play Minecraft for Free in 2023

Minecraft has captivated the world even 12 years after its initial release. The game has sold over 200 million copies worldwide and remains as intriguing today as it did when it first came out. If you have yet to enter the blocky digital world of one of the best-selling video games of all time, you may be shocked to learn that there are numerous methods to play Minecraft (and its countless spinoffs) for free.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2019, Mojang released Minecraft Classic for the web. This allows you to play Minecraft for free in your web browser. You don't need to download anything, and Minecraft Classic is completely free to use.

How to Play Minecraft for Free in Your Browser

To play Minecraft Classic, just point your web browser at the Minecraft Classic website. It will immediately start generating a level. Once your game has been generated, you'll get given a unique link that you can share with friends.

Because this version is a duplicate of the original mode, there are only 32 blocks available to utilize, and it has all of the original bugs from that version. Furthermore, because it is browser-based, you cannot save your builds if you close the browser.

Minecraft Free Trial

There is a free trial of both the Bedrock and Java versions of the game for people who want to get a taste of the infinite hours of fun that Minecraft can bring but are unwilling to pay the admission cost. You may find download pages for the Bedrock Edition, which is available on Windows, Android, PS3/4/5, and PS Vita, via Minecraft's official website.

In terms of the Java Edition, which is only accessible for Windows, Mac, and Linux, an extra set of links is available lower down on the same page, with detailed instructions on how to download and install each version.

The free trial (regardless of Edition or platform) is the whole game as it would be experienced by paying consumers; there is no prohibited content that will be unavailable. To prevent this from being misused, you have a time limit enforced after the trial begins. The time limit varies by platform, but it always averages out at roughly 90-100 minutes, which equates to about five in-game days.

If you have Minecraft officially purchased, the launcher will allow you to jump into the main game right away. Otherwise, you get the said limited-time demo version of Survival Minecraft.
