Alliance, a team that appeared unchanged amidst global roster adjustments in the past month, has now joined the ranks of those making changes. After a year with Malaysian midlaner Ng "ChYuaN" Kee Chyuan, Alliance has announced his departure from the team. In its Twitter announcement, the organization did not elaborate on the reasons behind the change. In the past year, the team has continued to have difficulty achieving success, even finding itself eliminated from Division II in Tour 3 of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2023.
Alliance bids farewell to its midlaner ChYuaN
“We shared a long journey together however today we say goodbye to @ChYuaNDota2. Thank you for putting your all into this past year, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors,” Alliance wrote on Twitter. In a tweet, ChYuaN also thanked the team, tagging the now-former teammates and support staff.
The only non-Swedish player on this Alliance roster, ChYuaN, was imported from Southeast Asia (SEA) with Remus "ponlo" Goh when the organization assembled a new team in December 2022. With many combinations tried over the past months, the team looked forward to having SEA talents with former players such as Gustav “s4“ Magnusson and Simon “Handsken” Haag return to turn the tide.
However, the best place it could achieve a year later, having competed in nearly a dozen events, was third place at the DPC Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 1: Division II in February 2023. Alliance's performance continued to decline, and it was eliminated from the DPC after finishing seventh in Tour 3.
Unfortunately, the team that holds a great deal of legacy has been struggling with this for the last couple of years - a tough pill to swallow. This year, the squad tried to hold onto the roster for a long time, hoping to provide enough space for the players to gel, but that did not work out as well.
It remains to be seen whether Alliance attempts to go for an all-Swedish lineup in the future, or if additional roster changes are planned.
Meanwhile, ChYuaN is expected to return to SEA and seek a new squad for the 2024 competitive season. The player has been regarded as a talent to watch from the region, but has not been able to translate it into major results in recent years.
