ChYuaN Joins Talon Esports After Alliance Exit

Back in his native region, Malaysian Dota 2 player Ng "ChYuaN" Kee Chyuan will compete for Talon Esports in the upcoming season. According to the organization's Twitter post, they are excited to bring back talents to the region with the signing of this midlaner. The addition of ChYuaN to Talon's new roster, which underwent a complete overhaul recently, completes the five man squad. His confirmation follows his participation in the EPL World Series: Southeast Asia Season 1 with Talon Esports. ChYuaN is joining a new team, after having departed Alliance a few days ago and after spending seven months in Europe.

ChYuaN rounds out Talon’s Dota 2 roster

“We would like to announce that we have officially signed @ChYuaNDota2 to our roster. We're excited to bring his talents back to SEA,” Talon wrote on Twitter.

ChYuaN's arrival completes Talon's Dota 2 roster, which consists of the following players.

  • Eljohn "Akashi" Andales

  • Ng "ChYuaN" Kee Chyuan

  • Chung "Ws" Wei Shen

  • Tri "Jhocam" Kuncoro

  • Pang “ponyo” Sze Xuan

ChYuaN joins Talon, replacing Yuri “Yowe” Dave PacaƱa, who competed as a stand-in midlaner for the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 SEA Qualifier. The team was a formidable competitor there where it reached the lower bracket final but failed to advance and qualify for the main event.

As part of the EPL World Series: Southeast Asia Season 1, Talon was quite strong among Southeast Asia's tier 2-3 teams. The team decided to participate with ChYuaN and won the grand final.

Going forward for Talon, ChuYaN is poised to play a crucial role in shaping its overall strategies. With his experience across regions, he is the most seasoned professional on the team.

Furthermore, he will be required to leverage his recent experience of playing in Europe to enhance the team's performance, especially given its composition of young players and players who are yet to make a name for themselves in the tier one scene in Southeast Asia (SEA).

There are initial signs of potential, but it will be interesting to see if Talon can succeed in an unpredictably dynamic region where teams tend to be dominating in one Tour but fall apart by the time the next one arrives. A major tournament Talon will be preparing for is DreamLeague Season 22, where it will compete in the Southeast Asian qualifier. The qualifier will likely take place in January 2024.
