BOOM Shares His Thoughts on Getting Invited Back to Team Secret

Team Secret's updated Dota 2 roster has made significant progress over the last few weeks, and it is currently battling for a playoff position at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. After the team’s win against Blacklist International in the event, offlaner Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan spoke about his return to the squad, having already played with Secret a few months ago. BOOM found the invitation from captain Clement "Puppey" Ivanov to be the "last thing" he expected, but once he got to know the entire lineup, he was excited to rejoin. In addition, BOOM talked about how Secret's newly appointed coach Tue "ah fu" Soon Chuan has been helping the team.

BOOM says he was surprised to be recalled to Team Secret

BOOM was candid about his return to Secret, during his post-match interview after taking down Blacklist International at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.

“I don’t know. For me, it was honestly the last thing I would expect for them to message me again. I left the squad five months ago or whatever. I was talking to some other teams as well but when Puppey messaged me again, he told me the lineup. It sounded good and exciting. MidOne is a new player (in the team). He used to be very good. I used to be a fan of him so yeah, it kind of happened randomly.”

BOOM played for Secret during the 2023 competitive season, during which the team fell twice to Division II. Before the qualifiers for The International 12, Saieful "Fbz" Ilham replaced him.

With the renewed collaboration, BOOM and Secret are making progress gradually with every loss serving as a learning experience.

“We are learning a lot from every loss. For every mistake that we make, we always analyze the replays. We have a good coach ah fu. He is always helping us understand what we did wrong, how we played the map wrong, or whatever. So, yeah, we feel like when we win, we obviously feel happy but when we lose, we learn a lot.”

In addition, BOOM discussed ah fu's role on the team, mentioning how he was different from others, in that he looked after multiple aspects of the team.

“It is helpful for sure. I mean every coach works differently. Some coach focuses more on draft, some coach focuses more on replays. Some focus more on map movement and stuff. Ah fu is doing kind of everything. Helping us with drafts as well and preparation for the games, map movement, and what we should do in the game. It’s been good. I am enjoying it.”

At ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, BOOM stated that he had mixed emotions because he believed that they should have won more games and as such, their position in the group would have been even better. The team, however, still has an opportunity to finish in the top two because its last series of Group A is against Wawitas Sagazes, which has only one win after eight games.
