Dyrachyo Shares Thoughts on Winning DreamLeague Season 20

Gaimin Gladiators has just clinched its fourth consecutive Dota 2 tier 1 title in a row in the form of the DreamLeague Season 20. The team has been indomitable this year. Gaimin's carry player Anton "dyrachyo" Shkredov, in a comment for Cybersport.Metaratings.ru, shared his feelings on this latest tier 1 tournament win. When compared with other event victories through the year, dyrachyo described the DreamLeague Season 20 win felt more satisfaction because of the greater effort required. In addition, dyrachyo explained why BetBoom Team, the runner-up, proved to be arguably the most formidable opponent throughout the long tournament.

Dyrachyo finds greater satisfaction in DreamLeague S20 victory due to tough competition

As the DreamLeague S20 progressed, Gaimin faced its share of challenges, with the final day also including eight games, but the team rose to the occasion to emerge victorious leaving dyrachyo tired but extremely relieved.

“I was very happy after the win, maybe even more than usual because the tournament was very hard for us. It was kind of hard to play eight games in one day, but I bought bananas, snacks, and yogurts to snack on, so I tried to eat between each game. I feel exhausted, but happy.”

Unlike previous tournament wins, Gaimin did not dominate as much in this event, finishing in the middle of the pack in both group stage rounds. A best of three against PSG.LGD started the team's final day before it went on to a grand final against BetBoom, in which it also played five games.

Furthermore, the pressure from the grand final was compounded by Gaimin's poor record against BetBoom throughout the event, having lost three straight games against the team. While Gaimin won when it really mattered, dyrachyo explained exactly why BetBoom had been so difficult to beat.

“I think BetBoom Esports just played better than us. They [the players] have their own ideas that work and are hard to play against, they move well at the start of the map, which makes them snowball, after which the heroes become unkillable. We didn't have any thoughts that we couldn't beat them, we all just wanted to win.”

Dyrachyo sentiments, with regards to this win giving him greater satisfaction and BetBoom's laning prowess making the matchup quite difficult, were also shared by Gaimin's midlaner Quinn Callahan who mentioned this during the post-match winner's interview. Furthermore, while the entire team had played well, Quinn identified dyrachyo as Gaimin's MVP in DreamLeague S20.

Gaimin will be seeking to set new records as it now heads to Bali for the season's third and final Major. A win there would equal OG's record of three consecutive Dota 2 Major victories.
