Uncertainty Looms Around Nigma Galaxys Promotion to Division I

In the most elite echelons of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), Nigma Galaxy has clearly fallen behind in the past two years. It has occurred repeatedly that the team has fallen to Division II and then climbed its way back to Division I where it has consistently failed to deliver. However, with two losses out of three series so far in Tour 3, Nigma Galaxy appears to be vulnerable in even Division II this time as uncertainty persists over its advancement back into Division I. In the lead up to Tour 3, Nigma had welcomed two young players into its roster, Yuma "Yuma" Langlet, and Kasra "Mikey" Mesbah.

Nigma Galaxy's poor start in Tour 3 Division II casts doubt on its Division I promotion

Nigma Galaxy defeated Ancient Tribe on 9th June in its debut series of the DPC Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 3: Division II with ease, making it look like it was finally time for the newly revamped roster to get going.

However, the defeat against IVY followed by another one against Level Up a few days later seems to have dashed all initial hopes as Nigma's promise is already starting to fade away. In the two series conceded, the team has won one game, but the lack of cohesiveness in the new roster and subpar drafts have hindered series wins.

Furthermore, as compared to previous seasons, Division II this Tour 3 is actually quite challenging as Nigma is up against the likes of Level Up, ex-Monaspa, Old G, and Alliance.

Now that Nigma has lost to Level Up and unexpectedly to IVY, it still has to face some of the other stronger teams, raising concern about its ability to win enough games. Given the typical trajectory of teams progressing to Division I, the team captained by Kuro "KuroKy" Takhasomi will most likely need to win all five remaining series to finish in the top two.

It will be an uphill battle for Nigma Galaxy as it continues to face several obstacles. Roster changes haven't worked, but a huge following will be optimistic that more time in scrims and games may help the squad find a way as it boasts a balance of experience and fresh talent this time around.

Nigma’s next series in the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division II takes place on 18th June against Into The Breach.
