Why Is the June 2023 Night Market Shutdown?

[15th June] Update: Valorant June 2023 Night Market is live

After facing a downtime of almost a week, the Valorant Night Market is live and will only be closed right before the launch of Episode 7.

Riot Games wrote, "For those who rolled before the temporary closure, you should see the same weapon skin selection (you can still get the Smite Knife!). Night. Market will close just before the start of Episode 7. Thanks for your patience on this one, let us know if you still see any issues."

[10th June] Update: Riot Games Issues a Statement Regarding June 2023 Night Market

While Valorant players have been eagerly awaiting the return of the June Night Market, Riot Games issued a statement on 10th June, explaining further about the issue that caused the rotating store to be shut down indefinitely.

The publisher said, "A bug with Night Market is causing it to crash and right now it's looking real likely that we'll have to cancel this round—BUT we're hoping to patch things soon and give it another shot next week."

Riot Games will be updating the player base again on 15th June and see if it is able to resolve the issue.

Riot Games modeled Valorant’s Night Market feature based on ‘Your Shop’ in League of Legends. The Night Market is hands down one of the best ways to get premium cosmetics at discounted prices. It allows players to purchase expensive skins at hefty discounts and the community always awaits the return of the Night Market to the client. The discount level in the store depends on how rare the item is. Notably, the last time this feature graced the Valorant client was between 5th April and 25th April.

In May, the community learned that the next one would be available in June, and on cue, Riot Games announced the June 2023 Night Market on 31st May. While the June 2023 Night Market went live on schedule on 7th June, Riot Games has already shut it down.

Here’s all you need to know about the June 2023 Night Market shutting down.

Riot Games Shuts Down June 2023 Night Market

On 31st May, Riot Games announced, “Did you remember to leave a light on? Night Market’s on its way.” The company revealed that the market feature would be live between 7th June and 27th June.

Shortly after it went live, Riot Games quickly worked to shut down the Night Market and the company is yet to reveal what the issues were that forced the rotating store’s removal. Currently, the market is indefinitely closed and the developers are working on a fix to bring it back to the client.

On social media sites such as Twitter, Valorant players raised complaints stating that their rotating store is glitching out and this could be a reason why Riot Games shut it down.

On Twitter, Riot Games wrote, “We're hearing reports that some of you are having issues with Night Market and rotating Store offers. As a result, we're turning Night Market off for now. We'll work on a fix and hope to bring it back soon.

When you log in to the client, you will see a notice on the top right that reads the following:

Platform Status: Night Market Disabled - We have disabled Night Market due to an issue and are currently working on a resolution.

The developers, however, have not specified at what time or day the June 2023 Night Market will be back.

Valorant players have voiced their opinions on the short runs of these Valorant Night Markets in the past since the rotating store stays live only for 20 days at a time. The June 2023 Night Market, the 16th edition of this store, was supposed to be live between 7th and 27th June, the fact that players are facing this downtime will mean that the short period of the store will be cut even shorter.

Once the Night Market is available, players can see their customized selection of skins via an indicator in the main menu. Players need to note that the Valorant Night Market does not include recent skin releases so they cannot expect to see any skin collections that were released in the past two months.

This article will be updated when Riot Games issues an update regarding the return of the June Night Market.
