In a recent livestream, Max "qojqva" Bröcker was enjoying a normal ranked game while playing Venomancer. However, he also stated that he felt bad for former T1 captain Carlo "Kuku" Palad after seeing his viewers making fun of him as the player was well-known for his bad Venomancer gameplays during the competitive season.
Kuku was one of T1’s core players in 2021, as the team went on to have a successful season as well as finishing top eight at The International 2021 at it's first ever TI. However, 2022 was not kind to T1 as the organization gradually declined in terms of performance and eventually disbanded after it failed to qualify for The International 2022 (TI11).
Qojqva feels bad for Kuku for getting all the flame after TI11
For those who are unfamiliar with the term “Kukumancer”, the term mainly refers to players who were playing the hero Venomancer badly. However, the origin of the name came from Carlo "Kuku" Palad, who was seen playing Venomancer a lot throughout the competitive season but ended up having a bad win rate with the hero.
In a recent livestream, Max "qojqva" Bröcker was enjoying a normal ranked game while picking Venomancer in the drafting phase. However, after seeing his viewers making fun of the Filipino player in his chat, the former Team Liquid mid laner said that he felt bad for the player, who at the time was heavily criticized by the community.
“I feel bad for Kuku getting all the flame [from the community], man. I mean, what are you going to do when you have Topson & ana in your team? No one is ever going to flame Topson [who has won 2 TIs]. No one will say it’s ana’s fault. So, Kuku ends up being the target.”
While qojqva sympathizes with Kuku’s situation, he also gave his opinion on the player’s playstyle by saying that Kuku tends to play heroes that do not have crowd control abilities such as stuns or disables in critical situations. He also said that Kuku’s hero pool at the time was not suitable for the meta at TI11, which ended up becoming a big problem for the Filipino player.
“I think the problem with Kuku's playstyle is that he tends to play heroes without stuns or lockdowns. Like he plays NP [Nature’s Prophet] and Venomancer most of the time. I think the offlane hero pool at TI11 was different to what heroes he was comfortable with or usually plays, and that I think that was a big problem for Kuku.”
Kuku is currently a free agent during the roster shuffle period, however according to rumors from the Southeast Asian (SEA) region he is most likely to be picked up by either Blacklist International or Geek Fam.
