Villager Esports recently organized a PUBG (Player Unknowns Battlegrounds) PC tournament, Villager Esports Domin8r Series, and took its first steps in the title which does not have a substantial esports scene in the country so far.
Despite the limitations, Villager Esports partnered with Loco to organize this event which featured 32 of the best teams from all over India, fighting for a total prize pool of INR 2,00,000 (USD $2,431).
Spread across two weeks, the Grand Finals stage of the competition concluded yesterday (6th Nov) with The God Squad walking away as the champion after dominating the points table for all three days of the tournament.
PUBG PC team God Squad is the champion of Villager Esports Domin8r Series
The PUBG PC event started on 28th October with 32 directly invited teams competing against each other in the Rank Decision Phase. The top 16 teams made their way to the Qualifying Phase while the remaining half went to the Survival Phase.
In the Qualifying Stage, teams were once again divided based on the points table with the top half attaining a slot in the Grand Finals while others went down to the Play-In Stage. Similarly, the top eight teams from the Survival Phase made their way to the Play-In Stage while the bottom half were eliminated from the tournament.
With the final 16 teams being determined, the Grand Finals of the Villager Esports Domin8r Series took place from 4th to 6th November and The God Squad made sure that they were in the lead from the get go.
The God Squad maintained a high kill ratio while being consistent with its placement across all five matches it played on first day of the Grand Finals Stage. Despite, not securing a single WWCD (Winner Winner Chicken Dinner) it managed to attain the first place with a total of 56 points.
The team continued with the same strategy on the second day as well, securing its only WWCD of the tournament and extending the lead to 97 points, a difference of 18 points separating it from the second placed team, Sensei.
The third and final day of the tournament had The God Squad really nervous because Enigma Gaming showcased some amazing skills to go from seventh to second on the points table, a difference of just two points separating them from the eventual champion, who finished with a score of 131 points - 45 placement and 86 finishes.
The top three teams that walked away with a part of the INR 2,00,000 prize pool are as follows:
-
The God Squad - INR 1,00,000
-
Enigma Gaming - INR 50,000
-
Aim Down Sight - INR 30,000
This PUBG PC tournament might not have attracted a lot of viewers but the level of gameplay put forth by the invited teams was inspiring and maybe we might get more such tournaments in the future!
