Gods Reign defeats Marcos Gaming to win the Skyesports Showdown Pokemon Unite
Pokemon Unite has shown a slow and steady rise across the Indian esports community with multiple tournament organizers hosting competitions for the mobile title. The country has also attracted direct slots from multiple international tournaments which is a positive sign.
The recently concluded Skyesports Showdown Pokemon Unite tournament witnessed some of the top teams from across the country taking on each other over the course of five days.
It started with league play where the four teams followed a double round robin format, where they simply played every other team twice. All the matches played in this stage were best-of-three series and the top two teams on the overall points table qualified for the grand final.
Gods Reign took on Marcos Gaming in an intense seven-game series which went down to the wire. The latter played catch up right till the very last game but failed to take the lead.
This resulted in Gods Reign walking away as the champion with a 4-3 overall scoreline. God Reign took the early advantage in the series and made sure that it was in a comfortable spot right till the very end.
Despite the loss, Marcos Gaming will be proud of its performance, looking in great rhythm and sublime form for the upcoming Pokemon Unite Asia Champions League 2023, scheduled to take place from 18th to 19th March on LAN in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
They will be joined by one of the strongest and most promising team from India, Revenant Esports, who was the India champion of the regional leg of this tournament.
