Hector Explains Why He Plays the Role of Supporter in Team SouL

Team SouL’s professional Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) player Sohail “Hector” Shaikh recently explained why he plays the role of a support player on the team despite having the potential of an assaulter. He highlighted that his teammates Harsh “Goblin” Paudwal and Naman “Neyo” have the potential to become the top assaulters in India, in addition to having an all-rounder player Akshat “AkshaT” Goel, and an in-game leader (IGL) Sahil “Omega” Jakhar on the team. Hector explained that he was comfortable playing from the backline and didn’t feel the need to focus solely on getting kills for fame, stating that team success is what matters most.

Hector highlights the potential of Goblin and Neyo to be the best assaulters in India

In December 2022, Hector decided to switch to New State Mobile amid the suspension of BGMI. Initially, he faced some challenges and failed to secure high-position finishes in tournaments, like the Snapdragon Pro Series New State Mobile, where he finished in 16th position. However, his performance improved over time. In February, he won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the Esports Wala ELITE SCRIMS with 52 finishes in 25 matches. However, following the conclusion of this tournament, he quit New State Mobile and switched back to BGMI.

In a recent livestream, a viewer told Hector that he could be a great assaulter in BGMI as he was in New State Mobile, as both the games resemble each other. Responding to this, Hector agreed to the fact that both games resemble each other but added that not everyone on the team could be assaulters. “In the end, what matters is that the team is winning. It does not matter whether you are the support player or the assaulter when the team is winning,” he added.

Hector explained that Goblin and Neyo have the potential to be the best assaulters in India if they keep working hard and playing well. “It is enough. We have two such good assaulters, an all-rounder player like AkshaT and an IGL like Omega. What more do we need? Why would I go ahead to pick finishes? I can play from the backline with ease,” he added. “When my team itself does not ask me to do certain things, then why should I tell them myself that I want to get more kills just to get fame? There is a lot of love (among us). Don’t worry.”

Hector has proven himself as one of the best BGMI support players in the country. With him as a support player, Team SouL has won numerous tournaments, including the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series - Season 1 and the team has even represented India at the PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022.
