Retired Canadian Dota 2 pro Jacky "EternaLEnVy" Mao has decided to cut ties with the game entirely. The 31 year old announced on his social media accounts that the next Twitch broadcast will be his last, as he has decided to retire "from everything DotA related." As he leaves behind a celebrated Dota 2 career, EternaLEnVy has decided to sell some of his custom designed mousepads, which are only available in limited quantities. His decision to move away from Dota 2 follows his retirement from professional gaming in July 2022. EternaLEnVy has only been livestreaming on Twitch since then.
Canadian Dota 2 veteran EternaLEnVy steps away from Dota 2 indefinitely
“Thank you DotA and peace out. Next stream will be my last,” EternaLEnVy announced the news on Twitter. A number of fans have reacted to the retirement post with gratitude and appreciation with the former Alliance player and The International (TI) winner Jonathan "Loda" Berg also joining them in expressing his thoughts.
The limited edition mousepad that EternaLEnVy has put out for sale has been priced at $49.99 USD and comes with gifting options. The preorder period for this product is available until 8th May and the deadline for the same is 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time.
EternaLEnVy has made many surprising decisions throughout his career, both in and out of the game. Therefore, while his sudden departure may come out of the blue, it would not be surprising for the community.
A pro Dota 2 career that began in 2012 witnessed nearly a decade of ups and downs as EternaLEnVy reached new heights with Team Secret, by winning The Shanghai Major 2016 and the period surrounding it, as well as lows in the latter part of his career as he transferred from one team to another in the quest for success.
His eccentric personality and a playstyle that sometimes saw some of the most absurd moves resulted in both good and bad outcomes, securing his reputation as one of Dota 2's most beloved players.
In the past few months, the player had limited himself to only livestreaming, staying away from any stand-in stints with North American teams. The date of EternaLEnVy's last livestream is yet to be determined, as well as whether he will no longer stream Dota 2 in the future or whether he will stop streaming other games altogether.
