Following his debut tour with Nigma Galaxy, Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf talked about beating his former team, OG during a watchalong of the Western Europe Dota Pro Circuit (WEU DPC) tiebreakers with Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski and Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat. During the off-season, ATF was released from OG mainly due to playstyle differences but was picked up by Nigma Galaxy to replace Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi as a carry player for the 2023 DPC season.
“I didn’t care about other matches, just this one against OG” - ATF’s thoughts on match against OG
During the watchalong, Gorgc asked the Jordanian player his thoughts on playing against his former teammates at OG. He also noted that OG was forced to play a three-way tiebreaker after Nigma Galaxy unexpectedly defeated OG in the regional league.
ATF simply responded by saying that Nigma’s victory over OG was his most important win in the current tour. “It's my most important win, I did not care about any other matches in the DPC. Just this one match against OG.” he said.
He then went on to jokingly say that he treated the series against OG as a must win while also comparing it to playing a high-risk match at The International. “Like, this is the one game more important than TI you know? This is the game I needed to win more than anything.” he added.
Furthermore, he went on to talk about his former teammate Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov’s playstyle on Invoker by saying that he should play the hero more. However, when Gorgc asked ATF on who is the better Invoker player between his former teammate and Entity’s Daniel "Stormstormer" Schoetzau, ATF simply responded by saying that bzm is the better player as he has played with him for a long time.
“I mean, bzm is 1,500 and Stormstormer is 3000 [in terms of Invoker rankings] but I respect OG.bzm’s Invoker more. It’s because I had played with him for a long time [since their time in Creepwave as well as OG last year].”
Nigma Galaxy ended the WEU DPC Winter Tour with 2 wins and 5 losses. The two wins were enough for the team to retain its spot in Division I for the upcoming Spring Tour.
