Nicholas “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff was one of the biggest content creators for Call of Duty: Warzone but leading up to the release of Warzone 2.0, he started to get fed up with the game and switched over to Apex Legends. From being stream-sniped during events to facing cheaters, there are plenty of reasons for him to quit Warzone, and many of those issues have been addressed by the developers. He gave Warzone 2.0 a fair shot but does not see himself returning to the Call of Duty franchise for now.
NICKMERCS’ honest thoughts on Warzone 2.0
He said during a livestream last week that he likes the core game and thinks it is pretty good. He added, “The game itself, the movement, the gun fights, everything feels pretty decent. It’s actually a lot better than I thought it was.”
However, not everything is sunshine and roses as he does not like the addition of bots to the game which seems to be his most significant issue. It can be difficult to say if an opponent is a bot or a real player aside from judging their movement.
The inventory system also needs some work according to Nick and he compared the game to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, a game whose inventory system is frequently criticized by players.
There is a ten-minute video by Nick on YouTube highlighting his thoughts on the game and despite the massive improvements that have been made to Warzone, he does not think it’s enough to make him want to move away from Apex Legends.
Nick moved to Apex Legends in 2022 just to try it out and instantly fell in love with it. He is currently competing with his own team “Tripods” and will be attempting to make it to the Apex Legends Global Series LAN events this year.
Apex Legends on the other hand is seeing some of its biggest creators leave the game as the game has remained largely the same since its release. Matchmaking is also a major point of concern and players want changes to be made to the ranked system and the skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) as well. If NICKMERCS does return to the Call of Duty franchise it is unlikely to happen before his competitive stint in Apex Legends ends.
