The livestreamer duo of Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski and Maximilian "qojqva" Bröcker recently talked about Nigma Galaxy’s newest recruit, Ammar "ATF" Alassaf on their respective livestreams.
In the latest iteration of Division I of the Western Europe Dota Pro Circuit 2023 (WEU DPC 2023): Winter Tour, many were keeping a sharp eye on Nigma Galaxy’s performance during the season as they had brought in a young and talented offlaner in ATF to replace Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi in the carry role, as the latter is currently on hiatus to recover from health issues. However, the roster change had not worked out so far as the team currently has four consecutive losses in the WEU DPC.
Gorgc thinks that the community is being too harsh on ATF while Qojqva thinks that ATF’s hero pool is not enough to be a carry
Following Nigma Galaxy’s fourth consecutive loss in the WEU DPC, many within the community were quick to criticize ATF for his horrendous performance on Reddit. However, others such as popular Dota 2 livestreamer Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski thinks that the community is being too harsh on the newcomer. “Name a more iconic duo than blaming a new Nigma player for every single thing that's wrong about the team. C'mon, dude, it happens all the time. It's been happening for the last three f**king years.” he said.
He also noted that he felt bad for ATF, as the latter was constantly bombarded with negative criticism about his performances as a carry. “I feel for Ammar [ATF]. You don't want to wake up to a Reddit thread like this. Sheesh, that is a rough one. I say this: people have a point. Ammar is not a safelaner. I'll make some points to defend him. Because if everyone's going to gang up on him, somebody has to defend this guy.” he added.
Additionally, Gorgc also reminded his viewers that Nigma Galaxy were well aware of what they were getting into after inviting ATF into their roster as Miracle- 's replacement.
“First, Ammar didn't choose to force himself onto Nigma. He got invited. So, they knew what they were getting. Not a guy who's gonna play Naga. They chose to invite him, knowing his hero pool. I don't think it's a bad idea to play offlaners on the safe lane and put a carry mid. It's not crazy. It has been done before and has been done successfully,” he said.
However, Maximilian "qojqva" Bröcker wasn’t so forgiving during his livestream as he noted that ATF’s hero pool is simply not good enough for becoming a carry.
“When Ammar switched to carry, I thought he would practice all the carry heroes. If you want to play in Division 1 and succeed, I don't think it's enough to play five heroes as carry. I think you need to play illusion heroes. You need to have a good hero pool. I don't think that's enough.”
Nigma Galaxy will have to mathematically win two of its remaining three series in the WEU DPC if the organization wishes to force a possible three-way tiebreaker to avoid relegation at the end of the tour.
