Everything We Know So Far About Diablo 4: Season of Blood

At Gamescom 2023, Blizzard showcased a brand new season of Diablo 4 named the Season of Blood. Currently, the game’s Season of the Malignant features a mysterious plague that threatens to destroy Sanctuary. You must team up with a former priest of the Cathedral of Light to stop the malignancy from spreading. The game's second season certainly builds upon the elements present in the previous season by introducing a new enemy type in the form of vampires. The fanged beasts have set their sights on Sanctuary and you are tasked with the sole purpose of killing them and their dark master. The update will bring a new questline and several new bosses along with other quality-of-life changes to the game. Let’s take a look at them.

New Features in Diablo 4: Season of Blood

Season of Blood will be released on 17th October. It will bring a new questline, where a mysterious Dark Master raises an army of vampires to take over Sanctuary for undisclosed reasons. There was also a trailer showcasing fresh combat moves as well as a new character named Erys, a vampire hunter with whom you must team up to defeat these bloodthirsty monsters. It was voiced by actor and producer Gemma Chan.

bosses and rewards

Apart from the questline, the game offers Vampiric Powers to wield against enemies and five additional endgame bosses whom you can target to drop unique and uber-unique items in both Seasonal and Eternal realms. Additionally, the game also brings some community-requested updates to the game such as:

  • More efficient Inventory management for Gems.

  • Paragon Points, Skill Points, Potion Charges, and Obol capacity upgrades will now carry over into a new Season once achieved with an Eternal or previous Seasonal Realm character.

  • Changes to the functionality of status effects such as Vulnerable, Overpower, Critical Strike Damage, and Elemental Resistances.

gem and stash

With these changes, gems no longer take space in your inventory and there is also a new search and filter option which makes it easier to organize your stash. Overall, the new Season of Blood update follows the same format as the Season of Malignant, albeit with much-needed quality-of-life changes. We can expect Blizzard to announce more updates as we get closer to the new season’s release date.
