Baldur’s Gate 3: Nightsong Questline Choices

Baldur’s Gate 3 provides players with a party-based RPG system where your decisions in the game can have consequences on your party members. The game provides you with several companions with whom you can journey across the world of the Forgotten Realms. The ‘Find the Nightsong’ quest in the game is one instance where your consequences can lead to different outcomes in the plot of the game. It is available right away in chapter one of the first act. This guide will elaborate on the different choices that you can make while playing through this quest.

Find the Nightsong Quest in Baldur’s Gate 3

The Nightsong will be found in the Gauntlet of Shar, which is one of the many dungeons in Baldur’s Gate 3. It is also necessary to have Shadowheart as one of your party members as she plays a crucial role in this quest.

Once you have beaten Balthazar who is the boss of the Gauntlet of Shar, you will be given different options. You can either choose to kill her yourself or let Shadowheart do the killing herself. For the latter, you must pick “Trust Shadowheart - Do not interfere” upon which you will find two different dialogue options:

  • Kill her. Let's finish this ritual.

  • [Persuasion] Don't do it, Shadowheart. Don't kill her - you'll regret it.

Killing Nightsong yourself:  If you choose to kill her yourself, you will eventually find that Shaowheart will leave your party permanently and you will not get her back. This part of the questline will also come to an end.

Trust Shadowheart - Do Not Interfere

If you pick the second option you have two further choices. If you let Shadowheart kill Nightsong, you will find that she has now been consumed by Shar’s evilness as she has now proven her worth to her deity. She will get a full set of dark justiciar armor along with Shar’s Spear of Evening. She mentions that she has fully embraced her deity and she has no room for love. But you are also provided with a dialogue if you wish to keep romancing her.

If you choose the persuasion dialogue option Shadowheart will spare Nightsong and she will reveal herself as a deva and one of Selune's daughters. Her name is Dame Aylin.

You will also get rewards such as the Moonlight Glaive and Nightsong will now be heavily involved in our storyline. You will also find out more about Shadowheart’s past which could possibly lead to more romance dialogue options.
