Mumbai Gullies is an upcoming open-world action-adventure game developed by GameEon Studios. This Unreal Engine 5 developed game allows players to freely roam the hustling and bustling streets of Mumbai, boarding trains, and driving cars of Indian origin. The game was officially announced at the Indian Game Developer Conference (IGDC) back in 2020, followed by the official trailer that came out in January 2021. The game certainly takes inspiration from the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series with its exploration of Mumbai City and its criminal underworld. Let’s take a look at everything we know about Mumbai Gullies so far.
Mumbai Gullies Everything we know so far
The main focus of Mumbai Gullies is to deliver a GTA-like gameplay experience to Indian Gamers and to portray the beauty and authenticity of the city of Mumbai. Similar to the Grand Theft Auto series, you will supposedly be part of the criminal underworld of Mumbai and climb your way up the ranks to rule over the city.
Players take on the role of Vangya, a street gangster who begins his entry into the world of crime by looting and pickpocketing. Eventually, he finds his footing and becomes the ruler of Mumbai’s criminal underworld. Apparently, the game will span three different eras, starting with an 80s setting and building up to the present day. It also features actual locations and landmarks that are part of Mumbai City, such as the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Gateway of India, the Marine Drive, and so on.
The game aims to showcase the daily lives of Mumbaikars by creating a befitting environment. As you walk through the streets, you will notice and interact with Indian NPCs, board trains, and even eat street food with stalls located around the city.
For those of you who are interested to know more about Mumbai Gullies, Nikhil Malankar, the CEO of GameEon Studios has a gameplay reveal video on his own YouTube channel. Do note that the game is still very much under development and it does not represent the final product.
The game will be separated into two parts Mumbai Gullies: Prologue and Mumbai Gullies: Final Chapter, which is set to release in 2023 and 2025 respectively. It will be available exclusively on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
