Rekkles Talks About the Difficulties He Faced During His Time in G2 Esports

Karmine Corp (KCorp) attack damage carry (ADC) player Martin “Rekkles” Larsson talked about his time while he was a part of G2 Esports in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC). Rekkles talked openly about his relationship with G2 Esports which was then headed by former CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez. Rekkles is one of the iconic players of League of Legends who moved to the La Ligue Française (LFL) or the French league in 2021.

Rekkles’ sudden departure from the LEC caught everyone by surprise in the 2021 offseason after the superstar ADC had an underwhelming year with G2 Esports. For quite some time, his future was uncertain but LFL organization Karmine Corp scooped him right up.

Rekkles recalls his experience on G2 Esports

While streaming, Rekkles was discussing his plans for the 2023 season and what’s in store for him. He made stark comparisons to how he’s being treated at KCorp and how he felt during his time with G2 Esports. In 2021, fans got to witness Rekkles in action in the LFL during the showmatch against KOI. Talking about his KCorp experience since then, Rekkles said the vibes were good at the French organization and stated that he is feeling optimistic about his career. “I know this year will be much better than last year because KCorp actually doesn’t want me any harm. The vibes are good. There’s nothing weird going on.” This led to Rekkles opening about G2 Esports.

Notably, Carlos and G2 Esports have been in the limelight for blocking player negotiations in the past. Rekkles’ comments mirrored the same sentiment. Rekkles opened up about the difficulties he faced while exiting the organization and claimed that G2 was trying to control his options. He added, “I didn’t want them to get money for me, and I’m sure they didn’t want to let me go to whichever team I wanted. I know that for a fact they won’t let me go to any team I wanted. Last year was a situation where we were enemies.”

Rekkles affirmed that he does not feel that way about Karmine Corp. “They have always treated me very well and that will continue regardless of whether or not we work together.

Notably, Carlos is no longer associated with G2 Esports after a video clip of him partying with controversial figure Andrew Tate went viral, causing him to step down as CEO and part ways with G2. The European team is currently competing in the League of Legends World Championship and has a 1-1 scoreline at the end of Day 2.
