Modern Warfare 2 Players are Mysteriously Getting Banned For No Reason

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players are facing a bizarre bug where players are getting their accounts banned for no apparent reason. The launch of the new game has been anything but smooth and the issues have been piling on since its release. A lot of players who purchased the new game are not able to access it and some of them are being wrongfully banned. Players who are appealing their bans are getting their requests denied and Activision-Blizzard is yet to acknowledge this problem.

Activision is yet to address the false bans in Modern Warfare 2

Gaming and esports personality Jake Lucky highlighted the issue stating that there is a false ban problem in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. He revealed that hundreds of people have messaged him, including players he trusted.

Players who are submitting ban appeals are reportedly getting their requests denied. Activision’s support channels have also not revealed any detailed information about the bans. All players know for now is that they are permanently banned for using “unauthorized software and manipulation of game data.”

This is not the first time that a Call of Duty game has been affected by false bans. Players have been banned in the past for using recording or overclocking software. With RICOCHET Anti-Cheat not revealing the reasons behind the bans, it is difficult to narrow down as to why so many false bans have been reported. Every time this issue has occurred, Activision has reversed the bans. But it might take a while for the developers to notice this particular issue and implement a fix.

How to avoid getting banned in Modern Warfare 2

If you are using malicious software, cheating, or modifying game files, you are very likely to be banned from Modern Warfare 2. But if you are a legitimate player, here are some things you can do to avoid getting banned:

  • Do not have any unnecessary software running in the background.

  • Do not use any gameplay recording software.

  • Do not use any overlocked components in your computer or have overclocking tools like MSI Afterburner or AMD Ryzen Master running in the background.

While following this advice might not guarantee a ban-free experience, you are less likely to be wrongly flagged as cheating.

A lot of players feel that the game is still in development and was rushed due to all of the bugs. The user interface (UI) has also been heavily criticized by fans. According to a report by Charlie Intel, designers from Hulu and other streaming platforms joined Activision Blizzard which has led to Modern Warfare 2’s UI looking like a streaming website and not a game.
