Seth “Scump” Abner is arguably one of the biggest names in professional Call of Duty and is currently a crucial member of the OpTic Texas lineup. He’s been active in the professional Call of Duty scene since 2011 and has been a part of big organizations including Chicago Huntsmen and Quantic LeveraGe. Late on 28th October, Scump confirmed that the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 season will be his final year of competing at a professional level. In a video titled “This is Goodbye,” Scump stated that he shall only be competing for one more year.

The announcement video was very nostalgic and moving with Scump going through some of the best and most iconic memories he’s had as a Call of Duty player and his time with OpTic Gaming. Finally, he said, “One last dance, ladies and gentlemen. This will be my final year competing as a professional Call of Duty player.”
In a follow-up video, Scump thanked his fans and well-wishers for supporting him through his highs and lows. He also quickly clarified that no matter how OpTic Texas performs the next year, he shall stick with his decision and retire.
“I’m not going to be completely leaving this space, obviously. I’m still going to be heavily involved in Call of Duty. It’s not like I’m just going to evaporate into thin air or anything. I just think that my time and my effort and energy… one last season is pretty much all that I got left in the tank,” added Scump.
The pro player talked about his other interests and how he found it difficult to juggle producing content alongside competing in the Call of Duty League (CDL). This suggests that Scump will spend time coming up with and posting more YouTube videos once he retires, which is good news for his fans.
“This isn’t goodbye, but it is saying goodbye to a very long chapter of my life and one that’s meant a lot to me,” Scump noted.
Scump will be bidding adieu to his over-a-decade-long professional career in Call of Duty, a majority of which was spent alongside the Green Wall and the OpTic family. He has played a crucial part in all of the team’s wins and notably, he is a 2017 World Champion and X Games gold medalist, and also has a total of 31 major tournament wins.
Fans will get to witness OpTic and Scump play through his final season as the 2023 CDL season is scheduled to kick off in December.
