Valve has recently come under heavy criticism from the Dota 2 community, as the developers of the MOBA game have made questionable decisions for this year’s The International 2022 (TI11) from allowing PGL to acquire a betting sponsorship for the Group Stages to creating a gacha system for the casters voiceline.
However, the community might want to sit down for another disappointing decision by Valve as there is a possibility that there will be no True Sight documentary for this year’s TI, according to OG CEO JMR Luna on the latest episode of OG’s Monkey Business podcast.
“This would break my heart actually” - Ceb and N0tail talks about the possibility of no True Sight
Sébastien "Ceb" Debs recently joined OG’s Monkey Business podcast as its recurring guest for Episode 41, before his trip to Malaysia to join the new iteration of OG as a second coach/analyst for TI11.
However, during the podcast OG CEO JMR Luna dropped a bombshell to the viewers of the podcast by saying that there is a possibility of Valve not making a True Sight documentary for this year’s TI Grand Finals. Johan "N0tail" Sundstein noted that it could be because of change within Valve itself, while Ceb said that it would break his heart if the rumors were true.
“This would break my heart man, actually. I’ll pay money to help them [fund Valve for production of True Sight] but oh my god Valve, what are you doing to us?” said Ceb when he found out that there might be a possibility of no True Sight this year.
After making a short comparison to League of Legends which Ceb had played during his charity stream, the two time TI-winner also noted that Valve does not do well enough for its player base to the point where he felt betrayed by the developers.
“I wish Valve would capitalize on how good of a game [Dota 2] it is. I felt like a lot of people were complaining about the game and sometimes it’s fair and it’s not over the years and now I feel like we came to a point where it’s outrageous and demoralizing. I don’t hate Valve by any means like I actually like them a lot but now I’m losing some of this trust.” said Ceb.
N0tail then gave out his opinion, saying that the possible change would leave him confused as True Sight is considered as a part of a Dota 2 ritual. Furthermore, he stated that the massive decrease in prize pool and the possibility of no True Sight for this year might have an effect in the long term.
“One thing for me is that you’re changing a ritual which could be good or bad but I don’t see a reason why you want to change this right now. I think with the decrease of the prize pool and no True Sight, the only way I could read this is confused and now you [Valve] care less because every True Sight there is an influx of players according to the statistics and this is as close they [Valve] get to advertisement. That’s how Valve advertises, it's the prize pool and the True Sight.” said N0tail.

At the time of writing, Valve has neither confirmed nor denied the allegations. However, the Dota 2 community might continue to look at Valve in a negative light if the rumors turned out to be true.
