Fnatic Files Formal Complaint About About Potential Competitive Integrity Breach at TI11

The International 2022 (TI11)’s Main Event continues to provide drama off the screen as Fnatic’s CGO (Chief Gaming Officer) Patrik "cArn" Sättermon revealed that the organization has lodged an official report following the team’s elimination from the tournament after losing against Gaimin Gladiators. He stated that the report was filed due to a breach of competitive integrity, since Fnatic's opponents (Gaimin Gladiators) could hear caster audio during its match on the main-stage.

Despite the formal report being made by cArn, both team director Paolo “KTM” Bago and coach Lee “SunBhie” Jeong-jae said that they did not blame GG for Fnatic’s early exit from the tournament.

Fnatic files formal complaint against Valve & PGL

Fnatic were recently eliminated from TI11 by Gaimin Gladiators in the first round of the Lower Bracket. The Southeast Asian team were looking decent during the group stages as it managed to take games off teams such as Team Spirit and Team Aster. However despite Djardel “DJ” Mampusti’s amazing performance on his Clockwerk during the game against GG, an Aghanim’s Specter pickup by Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan’s Storm Spirit saw the SEA team making another early exit from The International.

However, the organization was not impressed as the Fnatic’s CGO (Chief Gaming Officer), Patrik "cArn" Sättermon shared on Twitter that the organization has filed an official complaint regarding the competitive integrity of the match, as Gaimin Gladiators made certain adjustments to the team’s strategy during the match after hearing the commentator’s audio on stage.

He also said that he is “very frustrated that such integrity issues are still not prevented, especially on the absolute biggest stage of the sport.”

However despite the complaint being submitted by Fnatic, Dota 2 team director Paolo “KTM” Bago stated that the team’s early exit from the tournament was its own responsibility and that it did not blame Gaimin Gladiators for it.

In support of KTM’s statement, team coach Lee “SunBhie” Jeong-jae stated that his own team could not hear the casters clearly enough as the team was fully focused on the game.

Following the statement, Valve and PGL have yet to announce anything regarding the matter, however since then the tournament organizers have temporarily resolved the issue by turning down the caster audio at the live event.
