With The International 2022 (TI11) starting tomorrow with the Group Stage, many people were looking forward to seeing their favorite teams play against the best teams in the world. This includes Team Secret, who managed to qualify from the gruesome Last Chance Qualifiers after defeating Virtus.pro 2-0 in the Winner Bracket Finals. Following the game, Clement "Puppey" Ivanov stated in an interview with Escorenews.com that to become the best players in the world, players need to become a degenerate to win games.
However, OG’s current analyst and Dota 2 legend Sébastien "Ceb" Debs disagrees with Puppey’s statement.
“You need to be a degenerate to win this game, I'm sorry.” - Puppey gives advice
In a recent interview with Escorenews.com, Clement "Puppey" Ivanov talked about his feelings after the Upper Bracket Finals series against Virtus.pro as well as his team’s preparation for the Last Chance Qualifiers.
“Yeah, they weren't easy. I think we were supposed to lose the first game. I think gpk~ really screwed our game up with his Aghanim's. Yeah, I was the one who called the throne. It was one of those moments where everybody wasn't sure if that's the good thing to do, but it didn't matter. I think we had to do that.” said Puppey when talking about Game One of the series.
While Puppey also talked about the performances of his teammates & his perfect TI attendance, the last part of the interview saw Puppey end the interview by saying that “You [players] need to be a degenerate to win this game, I'm sorry. You need to be unhealthy, practically. You're not gonna win against people who are unhealthy. It's hard to phrase it. People who are healthy, a lot of the time they are not the best Dota players. Healthy sleep schedule and all that stuff, it's very weird. I don't know if I like it or not, but it's just the truth. Just do whatever you like. That's all what you gotta do.”
However, not too many agreed with Puppey’s thoughts on the current Dota 2 players. Dota 2 legend & current analyst for OG Sébastien "Ceb" Debs was one amongst many who disagreed with Puppey’s statement by saying that hard work prevails over degeneracy in the game on Twitter. “Actually quite the opposite,” he said. “Don’t get fooled or it will actually bury any chance you ever had to make it.”
